Inspections and Supervision
MJ Civil carry out a wide range of inspections with a view to carrying out investigations, providing solutions and advice in connection with various structural matters including the following:
- Supervision of new and commercial works.
- Structural defects, including cracks, settlement/subsidence of foundations and defective/unstable retaining walls.
- Material defects, including spalling concrete, corrosion of steel and reinforcement, and timber decay and infestation.
- Structural adequacy, including assessment of structural load carrying capacity, and fitness for purpose of structures such as mezzanine floors and storage areas.
- Expert witness advice.
- Third party verification work.
- Alterations and additions to existing buildings.
- Site inspections to enable certification of construction.
- Site superintendents for major infrastructure works.
MJ Civil are able to act in a supervisory roll on behalf of the client, particularly where specialist remedial works are required and the extent of materials and repairs need to be independently measured.
Please note that MJ Civil takes Safety and the welfare of its employees seriously and as such maintains the following industry standards for accessibility:
Ladder access
- Persons working alone are not permitted access to any point by ladder exceeding a height of 3.6m.
Internal roof space
- Access is not permitted through an entry point that measures less than 600mm in both height and width.
- The maximum crawl distance in a clear height of less than 1.2m is 4m from the point of entry.
- The minimum unobstructed, clear height and width for crawl space with and internal roof space is 600mm.
Sub-floor and under-croft areas
- Access is not permitted through an entry point that measures less than 600mm in both height and width.
- The maximum crawl distance in a clear height of less than 1.2m is 4m from the point of entry.
- It is not permitted to access sub-floor or under-croft areas to which the clear height is less than 600mm under the bearers of a timber floor or under the soffit of a concrete slab.
